Strong Local Leadership. Real National Impact.

Re-elect Councillor Nrinder Nann to the FCM Board of Directors

Re-elect Nrinder Nann

I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and am ready to keep building on that progress. I’d be honored to have your vote for re-election to the FCM Board of Directors.

Why I’m Running for Re-Election

Our communities are facing urgent and complex challenges, from housing and homelessness to public safety, mental health and climate resilience. With US tariffs impacting communities across Canada, it’s more important than ever that FCM keeps municipalities front and centre and recognizes them as key partners in Canada’s response. With a newly elected federal government, FCM’s role as the national voice for municipalities is more important than ever.  We need local voices at the national table who understand the realities on the ground, and who will advocate for practical, inclusive solutions that reflect those realities.

As your representative on the FCM Board, I’ve helped shape federal conversations that matter to Ontario municipalities, and I’m running for re-election to keep that momentum going.

My goal is simple: to ensure that the voices of Ontario’s local governments – rural, urban, suburban, and everything in between – are heard loud and clear.

What We’ve Accomplished Together

Federal Advocacy

  • Met directly with Ministers to push for investments in non-profit housing and homelessness supports

  • Championed a successful FCM resolution on coordinated mental health services

  • Backed emergency federal support for cities supporting asylum claimants to settle

Equity and Governance

  • Served on the Standing Committee on Anti-Racism and Equity

  • Helped strengthen inclusive democratic engagement through the Election Readiness Working Group

  • Supported good governance as a member of FCM’s Governance Committee and on the Rural Forum

Collaboration Across Ontario

  • Worked with Mayors and Councillors from across the province to reflect the diverse needs and lived experiences of Ontario communities in national priorities

My Priorities for the Next Term at FCM

  • Affordable Housing and Homelessness – Keep advocating for federal funding for non-profit, affordable, and supportive housing to address the crisis in our communities.

  • Mental Health – Advance intergovernmental cooperation on mental health and addiction supports to create long-term solutions that meet the deep needs unfolding in our municipalities.

  • Climate Resilience – Push for climate-ready investments in public infrastructure, especially in underfunded urban and rural communities.

  • Inclusive Leadership – Ensure that equity is not a side conversation, but a central pillar in national municipal policy making.

  • Trade and Economic Stability – Advocate for municipalities to be at the heart of Canada’s strategy on U.S. tariffs, protecting local jobs and economic stability.

Meet Nrinder Nann

As a two-term City Councillor representing Ward 3 in Hamilton, and the first racialized woman elected to Hamilton City Council, I have always believed in leading with principle, collaboration and results. Whether it’s building more affordable housing, strengthening public infrastructure, or ensuring every voice is heard at the decision-making table, my approach has been shaped by decades of grassroots work and deep community ties.

In my time on the FCM Board, I’ve brought that same commitment to the national stage – pushing for real investments, real equity, and real partnerships that help municipalities thrive. With your support, I’m ready to keep delivering.

Grounded in Local Leadership

My work at FCM is rooted in the realities I see every day in Hamilton, where I serve as:

  • President, CityHousing Hamilton

  • Chair of committees on housing, infrastructure, and inclusive growth

  • Co-creator of “Reaching for Power” with YWCA, a civic leadership program empowering women and non-binary leaders

I may be from Hamilton, but the challenges facing our communities – small, medium, large, urban or rural – are shared. The reality has changed for all of us, and I’m in this with you, committed to finding solutions that work in every corner of Ontario.

My Experience Before Council

  • 20 years as a community organizer and leadership development expert

  • Manager of Community Development, City of Toronto

  • Director of Education for the largest healthcare union in NYC

  • National Youth Issues Reb, Canadian Labour Congress

Let’s Connect at the FCM Annual Conference
